Author: Joshua Harris
As the title suggests, this book does talk about dating, though not about dating being necessarily wrong. It talks about the author’s experience with dating and shows us the negative aspects of dating. In this way it teaches us to approach dating with caution.
I found this book a very useful stepping stone to kick off my interest in reading Christian books, as it is easy to read. This book teaches us to live a pure Christian life and I would encourage all young people to read it.
I would just say to realize that this books more of a testimonial vs. handbook on the approach he promotes. Subsequently he doesn’t give a full view on this. This includes leaving out any discussion of the history of the group approach he promotes including problems people have experienced with the group approach.
Some of this may be due to his being young when he wrote the book though the church he is with had over 20 years experience with dating when he wrote the book. One would have thought that with this background he would have shared this.
This approach may be more appropriate for teenagers. He doesn’t make this distinction.
